I respectfully acknowledge the people of the Yugambeh language region, the traditional owners of the land and I pay my respect to their elders past and present, and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples of today.

 The Yugambeh language people are the traditional custodians of the land located in south-east Queensland and north-east New South Wales whose ancestors all spoke one or more dialects of the Yugambeh Language.

The Yugambeh people were great hunters, gathers and fishermen and lived completely off the land. The basis of their culture is to respect the land, understand the land, honour the land and to belong to the land, which l have tried to convey in this special painting and image.

Yugambeh language people are connected to Jagun (country) and everything on country, from the plants and the animals, the mountains and the valleys to the rivers and the ocean where all traditional culture is never forgotten but passed on from the ancestors and then passed on to the next generation.

This is what l conveyed in the design and finished sculpture at the Tugun Satellite Hospital - BANYAHRMABAH with permission from the Yugambeh Elders.

My painting and the image I have designed for the healing garden at the Tugun Satellite Hospital, represents the Yugambeh language group, what they believe in and the precious culture and beauty of this wonderful area.The centre of sun in my design depicts the hospital building itself as the centre of the site and the healing Sun above projecting the site from the sky. The surrounding circling dots of the sun and dotted rays are representing the Yugambeh people, the doctors and nurses of the hospital. They are surrounding and welcoming the people to this healing environment
