The original artwork TANSY is a highly detailed traditional dot painting by Grace Brown.
Tansy (with chunk out of her ear).
She is an endangered Brush-tailed Rock Wallaby, painted here with and her family.
This painting was a commission by a scientist who looks after and studies these beautiful animals so they will survive.
The brush-tailed Rock Wallabies are endangered. Only approximately 20 individuals remain in the wild in Victoria and not many more in other states, or the southern extent of their range in NSW.
People like our wildlife warriors are working to pull these iconic Rock-wallabies back from the edge of extinction.
Captive breeding is already underway in partner with zoos and sanctuaries. The program aims to supplement this effort by reducing pest animals (foxes, cats, and goats), and monitoring wallaby populations to further our understanding of the threats it continues to face.
