I loved painting this little guy. Probably one of my all time favourite marsupial’s. 

Wombats are such interesting animals.

I had a baby wombat as a rescue when l was younger.

Wally would sleep in his fluffy pouch on my bed at night and l would take him everywhere. He would wake up and be full of beans and want his bottle all hours of the day and late at night. 
He grew very fast and was very shy with other people but he loved me and l was his mumma. He was such a little character. 

I released him back into the wild slowly after 2 years.

When Wally was fully released he kept coming back and some nights l could only get within 2 metres of him. I loved going outside at night and finding him. I would just quietly chat to him and call his name and tell him how much l loved him.

One night from a distance, he introduced me to his new lady friend and from that night on l didn’t see him again. He had fallen in love :)

I think it was to let me know that he was on his way to a beautiful new life and he just wanted to thanked me.

Memories l will never forget.
